|  ‘Les Serpens’, meaning ‘snakes’, could either be a reference to the S-shaped vine or to the presence of snakes in the parcel !

|  The ‘Les Serpens’ lieu-dit is situated in the lower part of the village of Volnay, between ‘Les Fremiers’ and ‘Les Champans’.

|  14,03 ares.

|  Bright appearance with a colour ranging from deep ruby to black cherry. It exudes aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant, red currant and stone fruit combined with notes of liquorice and spice. It develops earthy notes and a hint of undergrowth with bottle age. The palate is rich, powerful and elegant with good body and complexity and a sappy, fleshy structure.

Our sommelier’s recommendations

|  This fleshy and delicate Volnay is well-suited to rich, indulgent dishes with complex flavours. It is best served with meats that are not too firm in texture in order for the wine’s tannins to complement rather than overpower them. An excellent choice for creamy, washed rind cheeses such as Langres or Cîteaux.

Serving temperature

|  14 to 16°C.

Ageing potential

|  Reaches its full potential after 4 years in the bottle and can be kept for 10 years or more, depending on the vintage.
